Stewart Black Modern is a classic tartan with a black background and colorful checks that create a bold yet highly versatile look. Like all Stewart tartans, this pattern is associated with the royal House of Stewart, whose history dates back several centuries.

The Stewart family traces its origins to Walter, High Steward of Scotland, who married Princess Marjorie, daughter of the famous King Robert Bruce. Their son, King Robert II, became the first monarch of the Stewart dynasty, and since then, the Royal Stewart tartan has been a symbol of this dynasty.
