Sgian Dubh – Traditional Scottish dagger for the knee-sock
Sgian Dubh with a brown resin handle featuring a lion rampant motif, in a patterned leather sheath. Sgian Dubh (pronounced "skiːən duː") means "black knife" in Gaelic. Historically, it was a small dagger that Scottish highlanders carried concealed under their clothing for protection. Today, the Sgian Dubh is primarily a decorative element of traditional Scottish dress, worn visibly in the stocking as part of a formal kilt outfit.
