Celtic cross plaid brooch

Description
Celtic Cross Plaid Brooch
This large, gently domed brooch is a striking accessory that will not go unnoticed on your shoulder. Its Celtic cross features open sections that reveal the tartan beneath, a softly curved surface and deeply cast traditional Celtic knotwork.
The circular ring distinguishes a Celtic cross from an ordinary cross. Monumental stone crosses once marked sacred sites, marketplaces and meeting places in early medieval Britain. Fine surviving examples can still be seen on the Scottish island of Iona. The endless knots symbolise eternity and the winding paths of human life.
The brooch measures 90 mm across and is fitted with a substantial brass pin on the reverse. It is ideal for a fly plaid, a lady’s shawl or a Great Kilt. When wearing it with a fly plaid, pin it through the plaid only, not through your jacket – if the plaid catches on something, your tailoring will thank you.
